There are actually a few low $40s 2017s w/ decent mileage and manual out there right now. If I could negotiate one to $40 OTD I would pull the trigger. Luckily I'm pretty open on color and the only option thats a must have is a manual transmission.
Yeah sorry I should clarify, I meant $40 all in (so OTD). That would be a buy in my book! 2018s are nice if you want the OG M2 with LCI headlights

Slightly off topic but have you guys followed the news/rumors of VAG entering Formula 1?
Apparently both Porsche and Audi are brands that might enter with the new engine regulation in parts due to the e-fuel.

Do you think BMW would consider hopping on that too again if you get Merc and Audi in there?

I don't think so.

F1 is extremely expensive and it takes far more to get into. There is a reason why the engine manufacturers in F1 is going to be down to just 3 with Honda withdrawing. If anything else with BMW at the moment, they are trying to spend less. A lot of manufacturers are withdrawing from Formula E next year, Merc, Audi AND BMW are all going. There is no chance BMW will get back into F1 if they and Audi are too self-conscious of spending too much.

Audi and Porsche both have their reasons, Porsche far more than Audi because of the fuel substitute but I do not expect this to happen. Mainly because, no matter what F1 does, it still costs a ton to get into and I don't even know anything about F1.

Oh and on the rattling, interior part. I prefer BMW's layout still but all of my cars have had creeks within 2 years. I didn't drive much either in distance either, that should kinda tell you some things they put in are pretty flimsy. It isn't that I don't drive my cars at all but my parents prefer I drive the annoying Prius for long trips cuz of reasons. My M4 had less creeks & rattles than my M3 but that was it. My M3 had its glove compartment creek and rattle, and a little bit with the doors once again but it was minor but always the same reason aka the door locks. In the time I have had Porsche, I didn't really ever notice anything rattle or creek in them. They are very solid in the way Porsche puts them together.

Creaking window/door seals been an issue since at least the E39 days, and it is mostly just on cars with Shadowline window trim. Gave up trying to fix it on the E90 so I just had to have the windows rolled down just a few millimetres and this would get rid of half of the creaking.

My F80 doesn't have Shadowline (weirdly, an option in Germany on M3s), just the base matte trim, and it is dead quiet. E90 LCI had better materials in the cabin, but it was put together worse than the F80 LCI, imho. I think the E90 was a Friday build, though.

Will you post a pic of your car? You've piqued my interest in the base trim.

Lol no. Unlike VAG, BMW AG "tolerates" it's motorsports program, while VAG, and specifically Porsche, uses it as a breeding ground for hyper development of new technology.

Well, there isn't so much in the way of their Motorsport program anymore.
They got some GT and DTM stuff I guess.
Not even MotoGP but they do have the safety cars there.

It just seems like a shame that they seem less and less interested in it as it's obviously not putting them in the technology development fight I wish they'd be a part of.

The rubber trim on the bottom of the window is prone to stains and I can't get rid of them, so that's annoying.

The shots of this car on the track were just fantastic. Looks like a lot of tail happy fun, and god bless Cadillac for offering the manual one last time.

I like that! Never knew if was available. Much easier to avoid hazing on the pillar pieces.

A both happy and sad time for car enthusiasts.

Seems like a ton of great cars are coming yet it's the last hail before the end.

It truly is the end of an era, very sad indeed. I think my new goal will be to get a V8 in the near distant future since they are the next dying breed.

Hahaha I tried that but it was too hard to part with the M.

And like I've said earlier, I think the new Mustang might be it for me if I'd get a new car but that is still out there a bit.

I'm just so happy I've gotten to own a proper sports car in it's current generation, feels bad for the kids who will only know battery swoosh.

S650, yes.

Supposedly 2023 MY with end production 2030 (and by 2024 is probably the only V8 muscle left produced).

Currently rumored 4 versions of the car,
4cyl Eco
5.0 V8 Coyote
Hybrid (said to be V8)
5.2 V8 Predator

But there is very little info going around so whatever it is... Nobody knows entirely yet.

Although it's said to mostly be the same engine just facelift and interior update but we'll see.

I've also been hearing rumors of AWD making its way to the Mustang coupes.

There have been that too, along with 4 door version rumors.

I don't think it'll get either of those to be honest but it'll be exciting to see what they bring to the table.

They said they want it to be a "poster car", so hopefully it's a last huzzah from Ford too!

F80 had very different base specs in every country. German cars had Adaptive LEDs as standard, but this was an option. Pretty weird. Oh and we didn't get carbon fibre or aluminium either, the standard trim was Blue Shadow plastic. Changed that out to the M3 aluminium trim last year.

As said above

I think the alu trim was pretty rare too. You can see the blue shadow trim on the door pull, it's literally just grey plastic. Sourcing 2nd hand merino leather door handles is hard and they're too expensive

I also specifically got the F30 M Performance e-brake and shifter as it's got the white stitch and open/dry carbon fibre to match the seats as opposed to the M3 M Tri-stitch and gloss CF, though the trim on the steering wheel does also match the cloth seats just fine

It's all in the details
