Feedback on potential purchase - 16' M3

Hey guys!

I'm about to jump into another M3 (I've owned 3 e46 m3s and 1 e92 m3) and would love to hear your feedback on price.

2016 BMW M3 - DCT
50k
All options except for suspension
Lowered on springs
Updated crank hub
Clean title
BOOTMOD3 S55 tune

Black ext with red interior

Car needs new tires and pads. Seller and I have agreed on $48k

I tried to find similar models around the country, and given the price, I think this is a great deal. A dealer would be charging $50k+ for a car like this.

I've thought about waiting but given this car, I don't know if I'll be able to find another deal like this in the next 2-3 months.

Would love to hear your feedback.

Thats a little high for a '16 with 60 but it's loaded, and the market is hot right now.

It's 50k miles. I mistyped it.

Thoughts?

Same feeling at 50K mi.

If there's a hub fix done was E85 run for any long period? E blow-by dilutes oil so the oil changes would need to have been done every 3-5K miles to not wear bearings.

If the previous owner did the hub fix out of fear/prevention but did not work the car hard then you have a nice builder to start with.

Thanks! Quick question, is there a way to know if they did E85.

I’m almost 100% certain that they did not. Is there a way to verify?

My thought was that even if I found another one I’d have to potentially pay 3k to get the crank hub updated as a preventive measure.

I would worry that the car was tuned, and that's why they upgraded the crank Hub. Most people with stock cars don't tend to do that as a preventive measure. Also, when you say it has all the options, does that include the comp package?

It does have a tune, waiting to hear which one it is.

It’s non comp.

I wouldn't touch a car that has stage 2 and crank hub done. Especially at that price and mileage and it's not a competition? I would just assume he ran e85.

The seller knows more than you and my view would be he's driven the bag off it and it's time to let it go before something happens. There's no reason to do mods really unless you're driving the car hard.

There are much better deals out there. Also I wouldn't pay up to get a modded car, in my view they should be at a discount as it introduces too much uncertainty around who did the mods, what was done and how they did them. Even worse if someone installed them themselves.

I fully agree with this. The price is high for a non-comp car, especially if it's been tuned and modified. I would definitely skip this car and wait for something else.

Yo!

I double echo the two above.

I would not want to get into a car that was tuned. The CH done is cool, but I frankly would feel more comfy having it done under my ownership with my trusted shop. My mind can't help to think "with this done, did the owner drive it like he stole it then?".

Also, I would not be stoked on a lowered car either. Unless they were Eibach or one of the less lowering springs. Springs typically cause per mature wear on the stock shocks.

On top of all that the price seems high. I check prices almost daily, and although the market is silly right now, there are similar mileage but bone stock cars out there. A WTB add here has been fruitful for me...

Old guy advice, try to be as patient as you can in this market. These cars are tanks, but they aslo get beat on as that is whta they were built for. I know it sounds sillly, but look at these cars with a very discerning eye, and don't settle.

Good luck either way!

I paid $46.9k for my 2016 non comp m4 in April. 30k miles. Extra clean in and out, loaded, mpe/titanium tips, full leather, non adaptive suspension, and clean title. New tires and brakes all around. No crank hub upgrade and otherwise stock though.

I would think at 50k miles, you should be looking low 40's for price. Mods or not. If they'd take $40k I'd probably do it.

Damn. How long did it take you to find that? I imagine that was from a private seller?

I've been looking all over the forums and sites like autotrader and any 2016s with 50k miles are going for over $50k.

The market in April is a little different than today unfortunately.

Honestly, the price you are looking at seems to be about what these are selling for right now. Personally, I paid $46k in august for a 16 non comp M4 with 55k miles at a non BMW dealer. The car seems like it had a non reported fender bender so I probably could have gotten another one a bit cheaper but I got a power train warranty that I valued more.

The real issue is are you comfy with buying a tuned car or not. Our cars are meant to be driven like they were stolen so I just expect that from any M I ever purchase

Ahhh that's awesome man!

Yeah I would prefer to have one with some work done since I'd plan to do it anyway.

Is it local? I'm thinking it's not but if it is, maybe you can have it checked out at a shop to get a deeper dive of the condition.

Yep it's local. Having a shop take a look end of week.

Then the question is do I pull trigger or wait till Febr/March to find another one.

Got my 2015 M4 Convertible (non-competition), 21k miles with several upgrades (DCT, Exec Pkg, Mostly Stock though) for $49k. Just sharing another data point.

Purchase was a couple weeks back.
