This thread makes me happy
![]() The VR4 was one of the first cars I ever fell in love with. I owned a red 92 that I spent way too much time and money on in college. Those cars had so many quirks, and could be an enormous pain in the ass to work on but my God were they a blast to drive. Spent a lot of long nights in the garage and cruises to nowhere and loved every minute of it. The amount of tech those cars had in the early 90s was staggering too. They paved the way for a lot of what's on cars now. Digital climate control, active aero, active suspension, active exhaust, etc. It had an enormous mod list including rebuilding half of the engine/drivetrain before I ever put any power mods on. It was good for around 525awhp/tq though thanks to some hybrid TD04 13T turbos and all the supporting goodies. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I had a base 95 3000GT in pearl white as my second car and then I got the 92 VR4 in college. I always wanted 99 or a green 98 though.
I still have a lot of friends from the 3Si.org days and keep in touch with quite a few of them, including some of the bigger shops that still deal with them. A couple of them were trying to sell me some of their cars a few months ago after I made a post on IG about my old car....and it was REALLY tempting ![]()

The timing belt tensioner (which he has replaced twice along with the belt over his years of ownership) went out on my dad's Mystic Blue Stealth R/T Twin Turbo a few months ago while he was driving. He has owned the car since 1993. It has an unknown amount of damage to the engine. He hasn't decided what he will do with the car next.

I'm tempted to get another as well. We'll see how the market goes.

I bought a new 1995 Spyder VR-4. I loved having the retractable hardtop before it became the industry standard. I had zero problems with the car, but it was heavy a fuck and had major understeer. I did a few bolt on mods, and it sounded awesome with the Borla exhaust.
It's one of the few cars I miss and wish I never sold. Going for a cruise down AIA in Miami in the winter was a lot of fun.

I had a 95 Eclipse GS-T. It was a fun little car, transmission was effortless, if not a bit lacking in the torque dept. But the turbo wastegates made a cool sound.
A friend at the time had the non-turbo Dodge Stealth. It was a nice solid car, but drove very heavy with the base motor. I would take a 90s 300ZX or Supra over the Mitsus any day, especially the TT's. Not saying anything revolutionary here, but I think those 2 cars along with the original NSX are the pinnacle of US market Japanese sports cars.

I loved the 3000GT VR-4s. They were a car I wanted but never could find one that wasn't overly priced or road hard and put away wet.

I hesitate to go down this road because as you say, parts are becoming harder and harder to find.

I like the Starion or Conquest Tsi here. I'd love to get ahold of one of those.
