OEM CCB Calipers Used on Track

If anyone is using their CCB calipers with iron rotors on the track, can you tell me how the dust seals on the calipers have held up? Most true race calipers (i.e. Alcon) do not use dust seals for obvious heat reasons so I am curious if the CCB caliper's dust seals hold up under track conditions.

The dust boots burn in the first weekend, even with Ti shims.

The best way to do this would be to remove the dust boots at the beginning of the season, track, and then reinstall after the season.

The CCB caliper is good and can take a very fast pace when combined with Giro rotors, but the dust boots suffer.
Note that on a real track caliper like the Alcon, you don't have these dust boots to begin with but that really only means they are not designed for street use.

I agree with shadows as one option to remove them before season.

AP racing and Alcon don’t have boots because the also machine their caliper housing tightly to the caliper piston. Leaves little room for debris to enter.

Essex has a good video showing how scorched and damaged a caliper can become when used repeatedly on track. Although the is a little bias as they are pushing product and usability, it provides a very good example of what occurs. I say that because most things come down to maintenance and how often you want to service or pay for replacement parts. You can run stock components and just replace more often. Or pay big and replace less essentially.

Does adding brake ducts and hose to a backing plate help?

Perhaps, we did not try.

Remember in a regular caliper you have dust boots and also piston seals.
Dust boots are there to prevent crap from getting into the cylinder cavity, but the seals themselves are the ones that do the sealing between the pistons and the brake fluid.

Burning dust boots are common if they exist. And they'll exist in any system that is street oriented. It isn't hard to pull them out before the season, no hoses or venting needed.

We burnt the original dust boots and bought the rebuild kit, which is basically new seals. We'll be installing them before long.

Do any of the high temperature silicon dust boots work or are they as vulnerable to heat as the stock boots?

They seem to work, at least the racing brake ones do, but I don't think there's a kit for the ccb caliper
