Are my wheels factory?
Hey folks, new to the forum and new to BMW. I just bought a 2018 F83 Competition and I'm trying to learn all I can. Does anyone know if these 19" wheels are factory? I'm trying to determine the max tire size front/back for a future upgrade.

They look like the standard 19s that were on the non competition version since its launch in 2014/2015.
I actually preferred them over the 666 20s initially and they will give a better ride quality. |

They look factory to me. They are the black 437M wheels. I recommend 265 35 R19 and 285 35 R19.

They are oem 437M which were an option on Comp package cars. Originally they only came with 666M but in 2018, I think, they made the 437M a no-cost option.
Your wheels are 19x9et29 and 19x10et40. The max FUNCTIONAL size tires are 265/35 front and 285/35 rear. Wider will fit but it’s been shown by many different sources (videos and articles) that wider tires on a narrower wheel does not increase performance and in most cases it reduces performance. Just do a quick search and you’ll find test results from reputable sources. EDIT: Here’s one article discussing tire width vs. wheel width (tons more out there): https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ar...always-better/ Last edited by M3SQRD; 05-09-2024 at 10:45 PM.. |
