Budget Sleeper Tire: Lionhart LH Five Tested on F82 M4 ZCP

Just wanted to drop an honest review of the Lionhart LH Five tires I recently put on the rear of my 2018 M4 ZCP (Competition Package). I’ve run Michelin Pilot Super Sports and my previous set of tires were Conti ExtremeContact Sport 02s before, both solid in their own ways, but I’ve never been too impressed with the Michelins, especially when it came to straight-line grip. The Contis handled great, but at nearly $800 installed, I didn’t want to burn through a relatively fresh pair with a road trip I’ve got coming up in about a month.

I had LH Fives on my old 350Z, and S2000 and remembered liking them, so I figured I’d give them a shot on the M4. Problem was, I couldn’t find a single in-depth review of these tires on an M platform, so here’s my take for anyone else curious.

Setup:
• Rear: 275/30/20 (slightly narrower than stock, accidental order)
• Car: 2018 BMW M4 ZCP (666M Wheels)
• Mileage On LH Fives: 500 miles so far
• Price: $219 for the pair

First Drive:
Out of the gate, the rear felt sketchy and floaty at freeway speeds, thought I had made a huge mistake. Then I checked pressures and realized the shop had them aired up to 45 PSI. Dropped them to 32 PSI per BMW spec, and that completely changed the feel of the tire.

Post-Correction Feel:
• Straight-line grip is wild for the price. These things hook better than my previous Michelins and are better than the Contis in a straight line. (Please note the tires were warm during testing)
• Cornering feel improved a ton once the pressure was corrected, not track ready, but absolutely fine for daily driving and spirited ramps.
• Ride is solid, freeway stability is good, and there’s no more of that sketchy behavior.

Final Verdict:
If you’re tracking or canyon carving, stick to your PS4S or Contis. But if you’re dailying your M4, planning road trips, or just don’t want to destroy a premium set doing freeway pulls, these LH Fives are an underrated option. For $219 for the pair, they punch way above their weight in straight line grip and daily usability.

Hope this helps someone out there debating whether or not budget tires can hang. Feel free to ask anything.
