I'm curious to know how the end customer will be able to revert back to factory ECU. Will they have to make an appointment for a remote programing session or can perform themselves prior to service? Lots of unkown variables.

In my view, one is terribly misguided to believe BMW will not find out parameters of the DME were altered irrespective of tuning method. And even if the tuner told us we have nothing to worry about, would you truly believe them?

Who has the better reputation and tuning history..bpm, vf or ptf?
I haven't read much about bpm on here. Will all the bm3 features likely be included in the new OBDII flash? Gts tcu included? |

What is known has been discussed already, but with every psdZ update that BMW releases, they could be silently adding more counter measures... Of course this is speculation, and one would have to parse in every release of ISTA the FASTA data to check if BMW is collecting additional data from ECUs to aid them in identifying software tampering and/or engine tuning in new manners. Its a cat and mouse game, but i feel BMW does not care to invest that much aside from whatever existing primary and secondary faults they store, and other engine parameters. |

As others have noted, if you're worried about modifications voiding your warranty, it's best to avoid anything BMW does not provide directly. |

Excuse the bonehead question, but where is all that data stored? I guess I'm wondering way you can't flash the entire DME back to stock including all the memory locations? Basically do the equivalent of a computer image file reload. AKA reset the ECU back exactly the way it was right before you flashed it to something else.

Mike did my M4 with the burble tune and it was the greatest decision I've made granted this was before the obd capability so we had to remove the ecu. I previously had Gintani's "burble tune" which essentially made the car a nightmare to drive in town but that's another story for another time... Made the switch and couldn't be happier with BPM. I think everyone should jump on this now that it's possible. Planning to do our X5m now that this is available. Keep up the great work Mike!

2. The software will support reading and clearing fault codes and clearing adaptations. This is not yet implemented on the F series vehicles, but will be added. 3. Transmission Flashing for F Series is in the process of being added. We will also be able to update the transmission to the latest software as well, aside from the performance aspect. Quote:

That said, we make every attempt to be as minimally invasive as possible. We have tuned hundreds of vehicles that have been in the dealer for warranty work without issues. At the end of the day, your mileage may vary. Warranty claims are often on a case by case basis. I have even seen a BMW employee vehicle flagged from a rep walking past the car in the service bay. Anything is possible here and we prefer to under-promise and over-deliver, than the other way around. Is it worth the risk? My answer is that after having a tuned M5, and many other tuned BMW's - I can not possibly be satisfied driving a stock one ever again. The driving experience with our software, the power delivery, smoothness, and not to mention all the other bonus features is second to none. It makes the driving experience so much more pleasurable and OEM+. Quote:
Here is a video from last year when we released the Burbles etc on the M3/M4: We will be dynoing some M4's and a new X5M later this week and will post the information. Quote:
Thanks everyone and please bare with us on replies to PM/Emails - load is very high as you can imagine.

PC only. For MAC users we can flash your car remotely or you can use bootcamp/virtualization to run Windows on your Mac. We are here to help.

Most likely for PC as seen in videos, but even so, if you have a Mac, you can install any virtualization software (VirtualBox, VMware, Parallels), or boot camp to run Windows. Of course, this does not mean that any software will run in virtualization, vendors to confirm.
I have the open source VirtualBox on my Mac, and run many BMW software (tool32, Esys, ISTA,...) as well on an older dedicated Win laptop. |

Wow! I was literally about to order a benchtop flash tune for my 550xi. This is much better option.
So, the N63tu is covered? If I wanted to upgrade to stage II at a later date, I could just pay the difference (down the road)? The actual tune is stored on my PC? So, I could go from stock to tuned as many times as I want? Are the options select-able as I would want them? Say I want to remove the cold start function, but then want to add it back (for example) Thanks for the hard work I'm sure you all had to put in for this to work!

Yes, the N63tu is covered. You will have the file on your computer and can flash at your leisure. The stock files will have to be constructed from your read - but we will provide this to you. There are hundreds of variations of software, but we have a 1.3 Terabyte library of nearly every software version - so our goal is to provide customers with the exact stock file that was in their vehicle prior to flash. We are also going to offer customers the ability to update their engine and transmission software to the latest versions from BMW at their request - which means that BMW software updates and bug fixes can be incorporated into your tune. If you've seen hundreds of software versions and the lineage of them, you'd be surprised how much is "fixed" over the years. I have also been constructing the platform for offering the different variations of software and organizing the delivery system to be quick, efficient, and effective. Between all of the models, versions, specs, regions, and transmissions, there will be hundreds of different variations of tuned software. As far as the cold start changes - this would require two different calibrations from us as we build the software to your spec, but I'm sure we can get this sorted for you. We are going to roll out the M3/M4/M5/M6/X5M/X6M software first and then the non M versions - depending on load.
