How advantageous do you find having the gear indicator on the HUD vs. below? Will be my first DCT and wondering if it is worth springing for the exec pkg in order to have gear info more accessible.

It is the nav info in the HUD that I find more useful.

For me, the exec pkg was a ripoff $4300, but essential since I wanted park assist and backup camera that are part of the pkg. Heated steering, pop up headlamp washers, and HUD, etc are all nice but not worth the price. My guess is if they didn't include the camera assist( which btw becomes mandated in 2016 here in the US - huh go figure) the pkg would have not been as successful as it is. $4300 would go a long way to buying lots of other really nice upgrades for those of us with a budget limit.

FYI, Exec Package (HUD included) vs. no Exec Package from the survey thread. Most cars in the survey have Exec package.

Slightly off-topic question: for those who did not order the executive package, what does the dashboard section that normally houses the HUD mirror+projector assembly look like?

I have searched but didn't see anything - do you have to turn on the hud (the one w the tach) each time you start the car? I turned my on yesterday and this am I started it up and it was just the mph showing. I guess I'll resort to reading the manual......

speed limit info on HUD little white square does not use GPS only cameras. After passing any speed limit sign right or wrong, it displays speed limit within 1 second of passing sign. NO GPS. And it always shows LAST recorded sign. I don't know what these guys were talking about 6 months ago.

Signed, Guys from 6 months ago http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle..._info.html#t=l This is shown on the Info Display in the instrument cluster or in the Head-Up Display. A special camera detects the relevant traffic signs. This information is processed by a control unit along with data from the navigation system. Features including the rain sensor are also incorporated, so variable speed limits in specific instances are also registered – under wet conditions or at certain times of day, for example. This means the driver will always be well informed about the road ahead. The Navigation System Business or Professional are required. |

That is a good question. I have yet to drive a 6mt M with HUD yet so I can't comment. Im sure one of the 6mt guys can chime in. I would assume yes but am not 100% sure.
