Dashcam Suggestions? .. 2016 Thread
Good morning friends....
Could you give me suggestions for Dash Cams? Is it possible to record both front and back videos? Is it possible to record while parked (occasionally)? Thank you for your time. (I found a few threads but they are so tough to follow as there are several posts over a few years. I thought it would be great to have annual thread) |

Found these two on Amazon:
1. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ($415) 2. http://www.amazon.com/BlackVue-Chann...=AQXDPQN3LTP6G ($369) Man these can get expensive. Hope there is DIY install instructions buried somewhere on this site.... |

Followed this guide:
In retrospect I would have run power one side, and the rear camera cable the other side. Getting two cables crammed in on one side took some tenacity. Also helpful was post #34 in this thread: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...ash+cam&page=2 -X- |

Yes, the cable will flow from the headliner, to the a pillar, down the side of the dash, and under neath the floor panels. You'll need a trim removal tool to pop up some panels and push the cable underneath trim.

I've started looking in to this more and more. The choices aren't as broad as I'd like. You definitely want a 2 channel system (front & rear). My current issue is that I would like to set this up in two or three cars. My daily and the M3, followed by my wife's car. The BlackVue is nicer and I could use it in one car for every day driving and then move it to the other when needed.
Does anyone have any experience with another model other than BlackVue?

Here's an option to checkout - https://www.massdrop.com/buy/thinkware-f750-dash-camera I don't know much about this particular brand/model but it seems to be comparable to the BlackVue. If you are not in a rush this website has dropped the BlackVue 650 a couple times in the past year and I'm sure they will again in the near future once it has been requested by enough users again. |

I just installed a Vantrue R2. I think it has better quality video that other highly reviewed dash cams. Hardwire was easy as well.

Nice install. Does field of view catch the rear view mirror at all?

Any exterior pics of what the mounted BlackVue looks like from the front on an M3/M4?

Just installed my BV650, question on parkmode, I looked on the app and it appears that you can turn this feature on or off and that's it. I thought I read somewhere that there is a selectable time option (i.e. 4,6,8, etc, hours) and then it will turn off. Am I smoking crack?

I picked up this when I was traveling in China. 1080P cameras with night vision, and parking mode. I paid $20 for #2 - front camera with 8G memory. Can't beat the price. Pretty happy with the quality - check out the recorded videos on the website. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm...ucket=3#detail.
The dual camera with 8G memory is #6, ~ $30. You can use Taobafocus.com service to get it if you don't read Chinese. I am not affiliated with the website or seller. Just sharing what I stumbled upon. |

I haven't installed mine yet, but I went with the BMW advanced car eye.
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...212359954~geb/ Some of the European members here have it, and they have nothing but good things to say about it. The only negative feedback is that it only records for up to 6 hours after the power has been cut, and there is no remove viewing like the BlackVue. |
