Having doubts about color

I have a f80 on order AW on SO. I've always bought white cars with gloss black accents but having doubts on this one. The problem is I don't want the car to blend in with other 3 series since there are so many here in nyc. What do you guys think about Austin Yellow? I want something different that stands out

It stands out too much... to the law enforcement officers at least

What status is it currently at? You may be able to change it. I totally understand the color decision uncertainty, but you'll love the car no matter what color you decide on. If I were speccing a configurator M3 right this second (I'm fickle as shit) it would be SSII/SO/dark 19s.

Its on order so I don't have production yet. I have time to change it but I cant make up my damn mind.

Have you met people that didn't like Austin Yellow? I've asked all my friends and they don't like it. I'm going crazy

I have the Austin yellow and absolutely love it! It does not blend in and really shows the body lines very well.

A lot of people at first were a little shocked at the color but now the more they see it the more they like it! It's not a color for everyone though, but it is reall easy to find your car in a crowded parking lot. If I had to do it over I would do it again!

I know EXACTLY how you feel....I love AW, most of my cars were white.....clean and hot....but i really didnt want to be another white bmw in queens....so I went individual dakar....

My wife is the only person who I know that doesn't like it.

You need to see it in person to really be able to appreciate it.

I went through something similar. I was all set to get my M3 in MW and went to the dealer to see it in person. It's a good color, but didn't do anything for me. There was an alpine white right next to it and you had to strain to see the difference. I also thought it would blend in too much. There is also a white M3 in my neighborhood and it hit me that it really was going to blend in. Nothing wrong with that, but for me I wanted something a little more out of the car. I also saw an AY M4 at the same dealer and I really liked it, so I decided to order AY.

I don't think you can go by your friends. It's your car. I recommend trying to find one to look at in person. You'll know at that point what you want to do.

If your not looking to do individual, id look into SS, im starting to dig it on the f8x more than the e9x

I made up my mind...I'm sticking with alpine white. I'm just going a with safe color that I'm used to. Don't want to regret it later.

This is what happens when you have 2-3 months to think about your car, hopefully my decision stands lol

Id pick AY for an M car over white any day.

M cars deserve distinct colours IMO.

My gf hates AY and feels the same about YMB. I think only guys like those colors. Personally I like AW and that's what I ordered. I think AY is timeless and classic. Same with black. There's a reason why those colors have been around for ages. Having said that color is such a personal choice so choose what you like.

Good choice and you will be happy with it. AY would have been a riskier pick. I think you would have been happy either way, but if your main issue with AW is there are a lot in Queens, I wouldn't worry about that.

This is why status 150 is great. It takes away all the decisions.

I agree with this completely. On a recent visit to my dealer I did see an AY F82 in the showroom and while I didn't order this color, in person it really is impressive. Very attractive. I asked my wife what she thought of it and she just scrunched up her face......

Even so, it's one of those colors that just looks much better in person than pics (and it looks pretty damned good in pics).

I'm in the same boat man.... same color and interior you're getting but I'm up in Buffalo and there's not a lot of M3's up this way.

I had my heart set on San Marino Blue on Black interior but I've always wanted to own an M3 in AW with an orange/ red interior. Plus dishing out another 5k is not something I can live with. Mines on order too but no production # yet. Hoping I get one soon....
