The 599 stopped production what, 4 years ago? The limited GTO model originally sold for $450k...now they're $700-800k. This doesn't really help your case.

While the NSX and GTR may be comparable to the GTS performance-wise, there will be thousands sold each year for the next few years. Hardly the definition of limited production.

I'm confused...If I had a golden ticket to buy one for MSRP, I'd be thrilled to see others paying almost double what I paid.
I am thrilled that I am lucky and have a voucher. However out of principal I would not buy one ridiculously over MSRP. Yes it's limited edition but it does not command a premium like that. Plus how about the others who are deserving who can not afford that. I get it, to each is own, it's America but that's why there is so much price gouging.

Maybe BMW should have had all the allocations go to previous/current M owners, and have zero open allocations. It's effectively what Porsche did with the 911R, though there have been plenty of stories of dealers buying those cars back from loyal 'enthusiasts' for $200k over sticker before they even had a chance to be driven around the block.

Bottom line, the market is going to do what the market is going to do.

And these are list prices, too. With some minor negotiation, you can get lower.

I'm not saying either is better than the M4 GTS; that's for the individual owner/driver to decide. But, the cars listed above are in a completely different league with respect to what "type" of a car they are.
Ugh. I shouldn't have clicked on that link for the 458. I want it!

good luck securing one at msrp. dealerships are not stupid, they know when and how much to charge based on market trend.
for example:

in 2014 when the I8 hit the showroom floors... don't tell me you guys don't remember hearing the amount of money being dumped on these cars when first launched. well, look at the trend now, more cars available (a ton more) now you can get them well below invoice.

Come on guys, they are a business at the end of the day. its simple econ..

demand is high, supply is super low = big money being dumped

(oh, and if you think corporate ran stores like sonic auto group or autonation are not packing the back with garbage products when you purchase the car, you got another thing coming to you... do the math)

if we're not in the ballpark to consider buying one, maybe we shouldn't bag on the guys that can dump the money and not care... power to them and power to those who can get the money for it... it is business at the end of the day.

Make a quick $100k+, quickly call your nearest Porsche dealer and get on the 2018 GT2 RS allocation list.
your hilarious - anything good from porsche goes to 918 customers only

911r are going for 300k over sticker

Stores are not even getting allocation

Finally - Someone I agree with!

I wanna see a comparison between a piggy back tuned F8X vs M4 GTS....

Anyone?

I love the M4 GTS but for that kind of money, there are so many other cars that I'd buy over the GTS. I personally don't think the GTS is worth $140k, much less 200k+. That's stupid money for an M4.

I'd bet a tuned M4 ZCP would give the GTS a pretty serious run for its money.

Sorry, I meant that I would rather have a base 488 for that kind of money.

I don't disagree with you necessarily but man once you actually drive the GTS you understand the serious differences in both power/feel/cosmetically etc...

Oh no doubt. I'm not debating how special the car is and I'd LOVE to own one, but not for 200k+. I'd get a Lambo Huracan in a heartbeat over the GTS or even a GT3.
