Updated/New M-Performance Key Cases are finally starting to come in!

Ordered mine back in April, and finally they are shipping to dealerships and distributors. They were back-ordered from BMW for some time. Got mine from ECS Tuning. Probably the lowest price, including the dealer and eBay (I don't work for ECS...just searched all over for the best price).

Fit is perfect, the alcantara is very nice. Inside is lined with smooth, blue leather. Allen wrench snugs it down just enough so it doesn't fall out by itself. Does not add too much additional bulk and I really like the look.

Part number is on the box in the second pic.

Some but not bad...I have had similar cases in the past and it is about the same.

Use this BMW part number in the search window on their site: 82292355518

It will come up under the warning to ensure you have the right vehicle and that this one will fit. It will!

dang that's nice, it would be a little more attractive at $50 with free shipping I feel like this has a bit of the M tax applied to it.

Id be happy to pay $70 (even $100) if it was made in Germany. The fact its made in Taiwan for that price is a bit of a slap in the face. BMW could easily still turn a profit marking it in germany.

Ill pass.

Then you will be disappointed to find out that a lot of the parts is made in China on the M3 you spent over 80k on. I have the key fob cover and the quality is amazing.

The quality of goods made in China are dictated by the company it is made for, it has nothing to do with the actual skilled laborer. They can buy skilled quality if wanted or make them as cheap as you want. I think what bothers folks is the labor force in Asia works for much less than in Germany, so why not pass on the savings to the end buyer? Yeah I know, that would be living in a fantasy world.

Got mine off eBay a while ago. For what it is and cost I'm happy. It'll last longer than my previous one just by the way the screw and rod that hold the key in place are made

I do know that and it is disappointing. That said I don't have much of a choice. When it comes to a $70 key chain I have a choice.

Whats dissapointing is it costs $1 to make in china and maybe $5 to make in germany, so they could easily make it in germany and still turn a profit on something like that.

Outsource almost always ends up with lower quality items. A debate I've had 100s of times, and while some disagree my experience has always proven to be true.

As someone already pointed out the stitching isnt even straight

I would also like that BMW makes everything in Germany, but the truth is that all other manufacturers in almost all industries is outsourcing these days. It is what it is...oh well.

Dont see this as true at all. Many high end companies do outsource, but many stay true to their brands integrity and dont. i.e. Louis Vuitton, countless shoes brands, etc etc

When it comes to something like this Key chain its so easy for BMW to get that built in germany and still make a profit. He even employing a hig end leather goods manufacture in Italy would be miles better then china.

I bought a watch and the travel case it came with was outsourced to be made by Hermes, Why? Because the watch brand kept true to its branding of quality.

BMW could have done the same.

This is just a key pouch. You got me all excited to see an actual new fob. Still kills me the M3/4 keys are so average looking, especially when the new X5 M key looks so cool.

agreed the actual Key fob itself for M cars should stand out as being pretty awesome. Would be so easy to do too.
