I got money back on my VW since i turned it in 3 months early and they were able to recoup my last three payments at auction because the value of the car was worth more then my buyout.
I agree, I haven't heard of BMW buying back miles you don't use.

However, I thought I read somewhere that if at lease turn-in you have 5000 miles or more under your contract amount that you can get a $300 credit towards your next purchase/lease or something along those lines. I may be mistaken on the details, but it was something like that.

I'm not taking about the miles you get based on the contract 10k/36 months = 30k miles.

I'm talking about if your purchase x miles over the 30k mile contract. So let's say you drive 15k in the first year but you only contracted for 10k a year, then you would buy 15k extra miles at 16 cents so at the end of the lease you wouldn't pay 20 cents a mile since your assuming you'd be at 45k miles lease end.

Then at lease end you only ended up with 40k miles, 10k over your contracted miles but you bought enough for 45k, I believe BMW would refund you those miles.

This is very interesting. If this is true, then BMW almost sets up a 2 tiered mileage system. One would almost always take the 10k lease residual and pay for the miles later. I hope golffrr or someone can confirm this. I will also try and find out.

Even if you can't get a refund, 6 months before your lease is up, you should have a pretty good idea of what your miles should be at so you can purchase them then. Right now with such high risduals and the high msrp of the m3, it makes sense to do just do 10k and buy miles as needed. If the residual was lower or a lower msrp car, It's cheaper to do the 15k if you know you'll use it.

Also, I'm using the pull ahead program. I have 31k miles but contracted for 30k. If I were to lease for another 6 months, I'd be like at around 37k. Since I'm turning in early, I'm only 1k miles over and BMW doesn't penalize me and pro rate the miles given. Example, 6 months before my lease I should be at 25k miles but I'm not being charged for the 6k miles I'm over.

Another great tip and yes in the current environment, going 10k a year makes a lot of sense. Only in the case of lease transfer do you get hurt with the low miles, but you could always offer a cash incentive. Although if the miles are transferable (no reason to think no) then you could buy them if no one bites initially.

One other rambling point. I would bet buying the miles has tax advantages for some. In PA we pay a minimum of 9% tax per month on the lease payment. If you buy the lease miles later, I bet you only get taxed at 6% (PA sales tax).

Found more details on BMWUSA.

*Yes you are refunded for purchased miles you do not use, but they don't specify how much you are refunded.

*You can pay miles in increments or in lump sum payment if buying them outside of 120 days of lease end.

*Within 120 days up to the day before lease maturity, you can buy miles in lump sum payment.

*Payment is subject to sales tax

*Miles are currently $0.16/mile before lease end compared to $0.20 after lease end. ($0.22 vs $0.25 for 7 series)

some will be, I doubt the M3/M4 will, no reason to lower it (unless production filled up) and no reason to make it better. Other cars I am sure will change as we get closer to new models. My CA said they should be announced by this Friday.

If anything lowers on the F8X I would think it would be MF but that's already pretty low.

I just signed and ordered an M3 today from a NorCal dealer. This is the best one I received from going back and forth with 13 different dealers in the SF Bay Area. I'm hoping to find out the build week in a couple of days.

36 Mo Lease/12K miles/65% residual/.00129 MF
MSRP $65275
Selling Price $63075 (still about $2290 over invoice)
Acq Fee $995 (they wouldn't change it no matter how much I tried)
Upfront $2253.31
Monthly $781.89

I thought it was a decent deal.

XRAVE...Pull Ahead program... does BWM usually include M cars in the pull ahead? Slim chance I think...

No, M cars are usually not included in pull ahead. That's only if you are turning in a leased M. It has nothing to do with getting into an M from another BMW. In the latter scenario, you would be eligible.

well BMWUSA.com is already updated for April, BUT no M3/M4 leases are listed on there, so we need a dealer/CA to confirm those numbers...

APRs appear the same as March, SUV residuals look unchanged as well Was hoping the X6 would have gone up (same as X4 right now, both are 60%)

If the residuals % gets any higher I'll be shocked. It's already at great rate.

As long as you submitted a credit application in March that was approved, they are locked in until the end of May.

I was told that if I locked in a rate at a specific dealer I could not use that rate at another dealer even if my application was with BMW. Is that correct?

EDIT - Never mind, BMW FS just told me that is the case, which sucks!
