The CCBs use a different brake booster, presumably more powerful than stock. If this isn't swapped, won't it affect pedal feel?

I'm not planning to use CCB rotors and pads with these calipers, obviously.

Other than the calipers being refinished, nothing definitive yet. Either the front OEM brackets have to be custom-made for proper fit or the M5 front rotor will work directly with the front calipers/brackets; the front 400mm M5 rotors are going in regardless. No plan to replace rear rotors so most probably the brackets have to be custom-made to fit the 370mm stock rotors.

Pads for steel rotors and these calipers are D1648-1 (front) and D1155 (rear). Centric (Posi-Quiet) and Porterfield (R4-S) have them.

Most probably by next year some company will have a complete steel rotor/pads kit for these CCB calipers anyway.

Hey - way late in my response - sorry - but yes if you happen to have the paint code that would be extremely helpful. My thought was 1) want something different as if I do not have CCB's it would be a bit weird to pretend I do and 2) yes, agree that this color will look really cool with MG!

Now in reading this thread I may still change my mind and consider getting the calipers here with alternate rotors/pads - dammit you guys are probably going to cost me yet more bloody money However, I might further consider painting those caliper this MB color!

I will be ordering the carbon ceramic caliper in a week or so and doing the whole setup/conversion with the M5 F10 steel rotors.

I know that there is another member here from FL as well trying to do the whole conversion but he is waiting on the rotors I believe, I should buy the rotors and get together with him and try it on his calipers.

380X32 front rotor means you can get a caliper and bracket from Stoptech to use on OEM sized rotors. More pad choices.

I like the M5 rotor idea, but requires 19" wheel.

- You mention in your link that the F10 M5 and the F8x have different spindles, therefore the F10 M5 front rotor will not work in the F8x.

Correct me if I am wrong but the rotors on both cars bolt to wheel hubs and not to spindles:

If you will be offering replacement steel rotors to optional OEM CCB rotors using the existing OEM CCB calipers -which have OEM brackets, then why custom caliper brackets for standard F80 steel brakes in your custom kit with OEM CCB calipers and your rotors?

Both standard and CCB calipers bolt to the exact same carrier. I just do not see why you are designing caliper brackets unless you will have two different rotors -which so far your plan shows the same rotor dimensions for both kits using the same exact calipers.

Thanks... that is what I was trying to say. No need of any custom brackets.

Yes, that is what I am trying to find out with F10 M5 front rotors.

The F8x CCB calipers (Gold in color) come with brackets, the F10 M5 calipers (Blue or Gold) do not as they bolt directly to the carrier (as in your photo).

Spindle is the assembly that connects the caliper and wheel hub which the rotor 7 wheel are mounted to.

That is the thing... there is no spindle in the F8x or F10 M5. This is a spindle:


The F8x and F10M5 rotor bolts to the hub assembly (#3), caliper bolt to the carrier (#2):



I think that your company assumes that this kit will be like others that you have created. Once you physically start working with your kit you will realize that this will be just a rotor swap with the proper hats, steel rotor compound pads kit and nothing else.
