I've been getting a lot of interest in how I fit my 305/30/19 fronts and 325/30/19 rears...Here is what you need in order to achieve this fitment:
Fronts: 305/30/19 19x10.5 +20 (I add in a 5mm spacer for an effective +15 offset on track) Get a heatgun, via the heating, make minor modifications to the fender liner to push it back/away from from the tire in a few spots for clearance -3.1 to -3.2 camber If on coilovers, you need a 5in front spring (helper spring optional) so the spring assembly sits above the front tires (vs adjacent to it) Don't slam the car KW coilovers may not work with their reduced inner clearance Rears: 325/30/19 19x11.5 +44 (+45 will also work) No fender modifications necessary -2.1 camber, don't go crazy here, around -2.1 is the sweetspot Don't slam the car (wont be needed with a 325) Comments: A 305 tire on a 10.5in front wheel is fine if you run a tire with a stiff sidewall. I use 0 toe up front and 0.07 toe in PER SIDE on the rear. Soooooo much mechanical grip on track. The 325 rear allows for a higher (usable) power output on track/street You'll need custom spec'd wheels in my specs above, Signature/BC Forged was my pick. Enjoy!

The max front size tire I fit before going to MCS coilovers was a 295/30/19 PS4S

What brand are the tires you are running? I know brand can make a difference as far as the sizes.

Right now the Nankang AR-1 are mounted (incredible track tires!) & these run pretty wide. I have a pair of unmounted 305/30/19 PS4S & 305/30/19 AR-1 and can compare sizes for u as a reference point

Excellent! Yes, it would be nice to know if the two brands are the exact same size

Awesome! Great info!
I need some more tire upfront, as i'm only running 265/35/19 and 305/30/19 RE71Rs

To be clear my setup of 19x10.5 +20 will work as is with oem or MCS dampers. I only use the 5mm spacer on track when I am flexing my tire sidewalls in corners potentially reducing inner clearance...just being extra safe.

I am afraid of running a 265/35/19 front and 305/30/19 rear because of the same overall diameter and MDM intervention and was thinking about going bigger in the rear. Maybe not 325/30/19 but 315.
Wouldn’t a 315/30/19 Michelin PS4S be closer to OE ratio? And why is nobody running them? I always see 305/30/19 everywhere and don‘t understand it as on German Autobahn I think I could get in trouble at high speeds with ASR intervening. A custom spec 11.5x19 should be good for a 315/30/19 aswell. What do you think? |

A 285/30/19 and a 315/30/19 is a 0.7" delta front to rear. A 265/35/19 and a 315/30/19 is a 0.2" delta front to rear. A 295/30/19 and a 315/30/19 is a 0.5" delta front to rear. The 285/315 combo is probably best for you, step up to a 295 if you track and are ok running some front camber via camber plates. The 285 will require at least a 10in wide wheel up front.

any thoughts on if the rear would fit a 325/30/19 R888R with 19x11 +44 setup without rubbing? here's the kicker though, i need to run minimal camber, like OEM spec at max, since i'm trying to increase straight line grip. car is lowered, but not too crazy. m4 with no rear passengers ever.

Do keep in mind the r888r are noisy, loud, and only have “good” grip once up to temp. Nankang AR1 are a bit less noisy/loud, and have a touch more grip. That said, surprisingly, my current 315/30/19 Michelin PS4S have more grip in street or sporty driving scenarios than r888r/AR1, and the PS4S is a much better overall tire. If you simply want grip for the 1/4 mile, the Mickey Thompson street et variants are solid choices, along with the Toyo fr. Hope that helps! Oh also, definitely get the SPL rear toe arms w/ eccentric lockout. This really really helps you control the car under acceleration/power…no more floaty feeling!

The Nankangs weren’t on my radar. Any idea how they handle on the road and actual treadware compared to the R888R? What I’m really looking for is something that can improve my grip on acceleration, not kill me if it happens to rain, and will last a “decent” amount of miles (maybe a few thousand?). Worst case I can just do 305/30/19 R888R with my new wheels and it should be a good improvement over my current setup. Edit: Some quick research tells me the AR1 are terrible in wet, much worse than even Cup 2s, which is saying a lot. I don’t drive the car in the rain, but I am in Seattle so it’s inevitable. Do you have any experience with these in the wet or cold? No interest in pushing the car in the wet, just want to be able to drive safely without hydroplaning. It’s also cool/cold here at least 6 months of the year too.

R888r get noisy over time You didn’t mention 700whp lol Ps4s do have more grip in street driving cold weather scenarios vs an r comp As it’s a track tire, Ar1 have stiff sidewalls so ride quality suffers Toyo rr doesn’t have tread but will work will with your power level Not sure if any tire will do all you are asking…holding 700whp, good at varying temps, good in rain. Maybe a Hoosier wet tire?? Cup2’s are the worst, terrible terrible grip until 85-90° at min I would personally move away from 20’s for max tire width fitment, the OD is just too much. You probably need a custom rear wheel to enable proper maximum tire fitment

I'll be switching to 19x9.5 and 19x11 setup. Overall my goals I think are pretty realistic: Improved dry grip over my current 285/30/20 R888R Can drive safely in the rain, within normal limits, if I have to (rare as it's just my "fun" car) Good grip in cool/cold weather with some "encouragement" Last a few thousand miles My biggest issues with the R888R I have now are I need more tire, they are slow to heat up, and they cool down very quickly. No real complaints with noise or comfort. With whatever setup I have, I don't expect anything crazy like hooking up all the time. I'd be pretty excited just to hook up in 2nd at all. I may add SPL rear traction links as well. Oh, and I can run 5.6-5.8 60-130 routinely on the current 285/30/20 in the cold. It just takes some practice and pre-pull, rolling 3rd gear burnout. That's a big part of what I'm hoping to resolve. lol.
