Well that seems exclusive to my suggestion, which was if you are going to drive to Barcelona.

If you were to do that, then I highly recommend you see/drive Route Napoleon to get from Geneva to the French Riviera.. It's an awesome drive and you will really be able to open you car up a bit, and drive some awesome roads. Plus it's fast so you can cover the distance you need pretty easily.

However, this is all pretty irrelevant now since you plan on not driving to Spain
