S2000 Vs M4 at the Ring

Amazing what an AP1 (2001-2003) S2000 could do with a great driver. I miss this car dearly, lol. One of the greatest transmissions ever.

And for anyone wondering the car is is not supercharged or anything) great video

The M just doesnt have a good driver.

Never got the love for s2000s.

It had the highest HP to weight ratio of any car at the time and revved to 9,200. It was a blast to drive. It's pretty apparent the M driver is not in the same league as the guy driving the S2000 but still impressive.

That doesn't sound right. HP to weight ratio of S2000 is roughly 11.7 lbs/hp. There were plenty of cars during that time that had a much better HP to weight ratio. Perhaps you mean HP/L for a naturally aspirated car? IMHO, the S2000 is a classic, still looks beautiful when you see a clean one driving around.

Two things:
1. Just goes to show what a slower, but better driven, car can do. Good video, and thanks for posting.
2. That passenger is nuts for going on that lap in a cabrio with no helmet and no rollcage. Hand placement on the top of the windshield is equally nuts.

agreed the AP1 S2000 manual gear box is the best manual ive ever driven in my life. The s2000 driver was a badass for sure especially how fast he was going without all traction control systems that newer cars have now a days. My S2000 was scary to drive in the rain.

First generation Tein EDFC controller. The box electronically controls stepper motors mounted on the shocks to adjust shock damping from the cabin.

The title of this video should be "Suicidal idiots with something to prove."

Who the hell runs the 'Ring with the top down? Not to mention no helmet and holding on to the a-pillar for dear life. I was waiting for the guy to go flying out.

The guy in the M4 clearly wasn't comfortable in the turns, but it wasn't even close in a straight line and for the first few minutes before the M4 got bogged down in traffic.

Great driving by S2000 driver. He is wearing his helmet, but looks like his passenger is nuts. Like others said, he is in the vert with no helmet with his hand on top of the windshield. He was looking at the camera and smiling twice when driver was sliding and countersteering. I wonder wether he still would be smiling if that car flipped over and landed on the top of his stupid bold head.

The S2000 engine/transmission combo is magnificent. That combined with the analogue driving experience make it a classic and I plan to keep mine forever. The M3 is a great DD to supplement it

Parted it out, John has the Shell and rebuilt it. I ran 9's and bent the shift forks on my $8,000 PPG Dogbox, I had enough
