Goodbye M. Hello P.

Sold my manual M4 and currently in negotiating 991.2 Carrera. Dealer wants to give me 4% discount but im wanting more. I was surprised that Im able to recover M payments more than expected (paid/lost 18k after 2 yrs ownership).

Now..the 911..The standard exhaust is much better than F8x standard exhaust, yes i did scroll down window and hear it. The sport exhaust is even better and deeper.

The steering wheel is to my surprise light and thought it is decent. Nothing to wow here.

The handling is very tight as expected. NAV comes as standard and non-leather interior a tad better, looks less rugged than the F8x does. I thought the F8x speakers sound better than the Bose in p-car. Im getting Burmester speakers

Powerwise is not the reason Im getting the Carrera but it is more than enough for weekend fun. Let just say my FBO n54+e85 wont have issue w keeping up.

My build is very basic, manual, sport exhaust and burmester. Cant wait!!!

congratulations on the move! I am bouncing around between my M3 to 991.2 transition but planning on going that direction in the next couple years. I test drove a Carrera and it was quite nice but didn't feel truly fast. it had the basic suspension which I thought felt great on my short drive. the car was a PDK which is incredible but I still think I'd go with a manual.

have u heard the burmester in person? it's a shame the BOSE is only ok. it should be very good especially at that price. the HK in the M3 was what I'd consider "good." not an audiophile but I do appreciate an upgraded sound.

enjoy!

Bahaha glad I posted. No, I haven't heard burmester in person, only forum review lol. I will stop by the dealer and report back. You might have saved me 4-5k there. Thanks!

I know what you mean by power wise. Also, have you open it up on empty road? I had to test drive the 2nd time to ensure that I will be happy w power. It is not a let down. Besides my goto for power is the n54 which is also my daily.

I did try different settings on the BOSE. IIRC, it has 3 diff modes. Neither surprises me including after adjusting bass/treble. I was tuning in from regular music radio station so different source might be better?

The PDK and Sport Chrono has a little knob/adjust is cool but I feel gimmick somehow. I know they claim better gearing, suspension if you have the package, and the 20s more boost but none of these is purer than a manual

I might have to thank Jason and Randy from Motor Trend later hahaha

Congrats! I recently made the switch to a 981 Cayman but my plan is to move from this into a 991.2 C2 base 7MT.

congrats man. I just traded out my F80 for a GT4. after driving it on track in June, there was no turning back.

I drove the 991.2's on track a lot as well, and those were extremely impressive. sport exhaust sounds great! overall, much better execution of the turbos than the S55.

wait... you're not going for the bang for the buck Camaro SS 1LE? did you not read MT 2016 driver's car of the year?

j/k.

congrats, I hope to do the same thing as you in a few years, when it comes time.

4% is pretty good, considering how little inventory there is at least in LA.

let us know how much you can get off and how the drive is when you get it! also pics!

lol i was seriously considered C7 Z06 but afraid i will shortly trade it in for 911 since this is my wish list for long time. Not that Z06 is not great but somehow Im not comfortable w GM service. Maybe just forum rumors....Or maybe i could drive the 911 for few years until the mid-engine C8 will arrive lol

Will definitely post pics!

Im jealous for those who could wait. You guys will get awesome deals, no doubt. There is an out of state 17' C2S with 12k off that is very rare given its not 2017 yet. its on cargurus.

nope, 70k is smoking dope. anywhere from MSRP to 10k over, depending on how good the spec is (i.e. CCB's, buckets, full leather, etc.), is the market right now for new cars (or very lightly used).

I won't be making any money selling this car. I'll either lose money selling it in a couple years when I pick up a GT3, or I'll have it forever. have to bust my ass for the next 24 months to make enough dough to afford to keep both.

Can't get dealer to agree more than 5% discount. Found an used 17' C2S that I'm trying to neg down further. Doubt that they will go for it but will see.

To make things easier .... for about 10k more I could get a c4s. I might end up building one w current dealer, 5% off, and delivery in January. Know that i will be getting a manual but this vid is interesting. I'm sure Cobb will have something or might already have it to make it a tad faster

you are upping cost to where used GT or turbo from older gen can be had. If going used anyway why not GT car?

First off, huge congrats. Love, love, love my f80 but life is short and variety is the spice of life. P-car is on my list to do before the kids get too big (ideally once they both can buckle themselves, so maybe 2-3 more years).

Second, you are pleased you "only" spent $18k in 2 years on an f8x? That's a $750/month depreciation - I guess that sounds about accurate given most lease payments here, so congratulations!

That video you posted is insane - god bless Porsche and their amazing launches.

It wasnt a lease. I was surprised because i thought once you drive off the dealership, you would lose 10k on a brand new car. Given having it for 2 years, i thought that wasnt bad. I still dont believe in leasing unless you work for yourself.

Might have some good news to share today. Neg down a manual C4S

There isnt any turbo w warranty left that lesser than 120. Same goes for GTx. There is a gorgeous 11' turbo S w 8k miles here but since the most ive done is replace coil and spark plugs on the bimmer, dont think i could self-maintain p-car.

Thanks for the thought tho!

P-cars are NOT bad to maintain, at least the base/S models. People 'fear' them because parts can be so damn expensive, but go price out basic maintenance parts from pelican parts or similar on a 5 year old 911 base. Not dissimilar from BMW M.

If you can do your own fluid changes (oil really), rotors and pads, and plugs/wires....you are good for a long time on a Porsche with a good indy dealership nearby.

For what it's worth, I owned a +10 year old Porsche for 2 years and did all of the above myself. I think I spent $700 in maintenance over 2 years (didn't wear out the tires), albeit only driving about 10,000 miles over 2 years.
