So what's my car's worth ?

Greetings,

I'm looking to sell my 2016 F80 M3 and I really have no idea how much it's worth right now. Mainly due to it's low mileage (5300 mi) ? Not quite convinced on some car appraisal websites algorithms' for calculating my car's worth.

so I bought this car new back in Sep 2015 (one owner). Since then I have not put much on the car only 5300 easy driven miles in 3 years . Basically sits in the garage all the time. I have a few MP interior mods (not sure if those affect resale value) and that's about it, other than that it's stock and pretty much new.

some of the options below:
-Executive package (includes LED headlights, HUD etc..)
-Extended leather package
-19in Black rim (437m)
-regular breaks (not CC)

Just trying to get an idea of how much it's actually worth before i walk into Carmax looking like an idiot

Any input is greatly appreciated !

Thanks

Fair enough, but certainly you are free to set your price above their numbers by an amount that is commensurate with your beliefs. If your expectations turn out to be too high, the marketplace will do a better job at providing you with that feedback than guesses based on arbitrary anecdotal data made by folks who have no skin in the game.

If you want to maximize your selling price, not being afraid to look like an idiot is what it will take. No one is going to be able to tell you an exact number which will strike that perfect balance between walking away with your ego in tact while a little less richer, and carrying the taller stack of cash to the bank as you cackle madly while having racked up a little less good favor from the world around you.

Before getting my F80, I got several appraisals to either sell or trade-in my C350 coupé. Hopefully my experience will be of some help to you. I didn't bother selling the car myself on craigslist because I simply didn't want to deal with buyers.

I got 2 quotes from KBB, one by clicking my car's value and clicking appropriate options and got a general range of what the car is worth; second by clicking cash offer and got a more accurate appraisal that way, which is good for 3 days.
I also got a trade-in range from BlackBook, which was what BMW used as their online trade-in estimate.
I also googled "my car's worth" and got ballpark ranges from other sites.

I ran the estimates for you and I'm getting 50k-55k range

My friend is a broker and she always recommends selling to CarMax. I took it there with ALL of the estimates I got prior to my appointment and they gave me the most competitive estimate. I even had the dealership I got the F80 from blind match the CarMax estimate as a trade-in but I ended up selling the car to CarMax and pocketing the money instead of my original plan to use it as a down payment for the F80.

Before going into CarMax, print out all the estimates from any website you use. What helped me was the single number cash quote from KBB because they will try to match that. They were also impressed I brought in a BlackBook estimate because apparently I was the first to ever bring it up.

Good luck!

I suggest Carguru. Had great luck with them, lots of helpful info and the last time I looked it was free. They will tell you what’s the going price in your local and give you comparison pricing.

Nah, it's a lease. Makes more sense for me to lease so I don't have to deal with it in a 3 years
