VTT Turbos vs Pure Turbos
What are you guys thoughts on VTT turbos vs Pure Turbos in terms of quality? Any reason to go with one over the other or are both brands good choices? From what I see, VTT seems to not be looked upon as highly as other brands from their previous crankhub faults and such.

We have hundreds in the field with only a couple extremely isolated issues. 3 stock motor cars in the 9's, no core charges, easily the best value on the market. Feel free to hit me up via PM or email (email is always fastest) with any additional questions and I'll be happy to help you.

I don't think you'll have any problems with their products. They might embellish their gains but everyone does. The only negative I've ever heard about Vargas is about the owner, doesn't seem like many people like him but if the product is good then who cares.

I’ve seen issues with pure plus turbos as well. I don’t know the details but abmwfan had some issues with his pure setup.
I’ve also read of people having issues with VT as well. I guess in the end it will also depend on how it’s used, installed, etc. I know Pure is a big outfit that caters to many FI applications including class 8 trucks etc. Im of the opinion that some vendors and users play a hush game when issues arise. No one likes bad press. |

Do both units use journal bearings or ball bearings and what does that mean as far as longevity ? I saw a video where tony points out a bottle neck on the stock manifold ? Pure uses our stock manifolds? How does that effect power delivery ? I'm trying to make a decision between the two companies.

Both turbo companies have fast cars out in the wild. Just gotta figure out which one suits your needs and price point.

Fast and reliable are two very different things . No doubt Vargas made some fast times . And no doubt Pure has many very fast builds . I don't want to be installing and uninstalling turbos . Each time I have to deal with warranty it will cost me 1000 to uninstall the turbo and 300 to ship one way . Any high mileage Vargas turbos our there ?? Nice if someone would chime in .

I got customers with both brands.
Pure st2 and st2+ over two years, journal bearing same as oem.Great products. VTT GC and GC+for over a year, ballbearing better to make power from launch, 1st gear, drag race. Local whp record for S55 forged 801whp with GC.

Both are good.
Warranty claims are very rare with either brand and they both stand behind their products

This is true. I’m sorry but VTT can claim all the power gains they want but it starts with making reliable products then standing behind them.

Hundreds of sets of turbos out there, issues are few and far between. As far as mileage goes, we have a couple local that we're aware of with 35k on them. There may be others out there with more, the S55 units have been out a while.
As far as the other stuff, I always say it's best to get opinions from those who have direct experience. Email is always the fastest way to reach me, let me know if I can help. Chris |

How do you explain such bad reviews all over the internet and forums? The people and customer with direct experience are people who are giving you these reviews. It's not that random people complaining how you handle warranty cases, these are people what spend a lot of money buying your products. |

Im pretty certain the VTT GC and GC+ are journal bearing, not ball. At least according to they're website. I seem to remember digging into this a year ago when I was deciding, Kratos are the only BB turbos, other than Doc Race, I found. For what its worth I don't think it makes too much of a difference, the stock ones are journal and they seem to hold up just fine. My Pure st2+ have been rock solid as well. BB should theoretically spool a little quicker, I believe almost exactly 200 rpm, but have no other obvious advantages. |
