Best time to get the best deal on an M3?
Got bored of my f10 535 M-sport and looking for a lease on an M3. Not interested on a fully loaded car, I can go with a base car, manual and cloth without any package. My dream build would be a black, orange leather, DCT and Competition package (that's all I need).
Question 1: Is this the best time to go hunting or should I wait till the 2018 to hit the dealers on July and try to snag a 2017?. The cheapest M3 around MSRP $64995 (white, base, 18 inch wheels, manual and cloth) Question 2: Is it feasible to get a payment of $700-750, I can put some MSDs and try to get a corporate car discount and MF (if available). I already have a 340i (my father's) lease under my personal company. Question 3: Have any of you used a lease broker? Pros and cons? BTW, the worst decision on my life was to do the BMW select financing on my F10 CPO. I'll never finance a car again. SMH Thanks for the feedback! |

Your best option will be to get one in November/December. That is typically when incentives are the best for BMW and people want to make deals. Additionally, since you want a pretty base car, you would most likely need to order one, or try and find something that is close to what you're looking for on the lot. You will most likely not find a base-optioned car in most inventories. $700-750/month for an M3 without money down/good incentives/MSDs (a combination of those) will not be possible. Lease brokers can be good, but some dealers do not like to work with them.
Leasing is definitely the way to go. What a lot of people do not realize is that Leasing really is just another form of financing, getting you lower payments with an option to turn the car in after 3 years if you do not want to keep it longer. |

First I would check my thread on leasing here so you know what you are looking for when you got to negotiate..
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1084623 I'll answer question 2 first. Yes it's possible but it depends on what the current MF and residual are. I leased my car with significant options and was able to be a great monthly price mostly because the residual was up to 66% when I leased. For number 1, now is not a great time because production is done until later this year so there isn't an influx of new product. Also South Florida isn't the best place to get a good deal on an M3. You may have to look further north in FL or consider out of state. This Fall/Winter should be a good time when northern states are looking to sell. I have never used a lease broker, but from what I've seen they can't get a better deal than an individual who does some basic legwork. There is only so much margin built into these cars. Brokers also take a cut and/or a fee which further increases cost. I would use one only if you're lazy or you're time is too valuable to spend negotiating.

You also should follow the official M3/M4 lease rates thread, which is updated on a monthly basis with the latest info:http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=952542
Last September was actually one of the best months for lease rates last year. September is also a good month because for many regions in the US, that's actually when the new model year cars actually hit the dealer showrooms, so dealers are under more pressure to move their old inventory (July is the production start for the new model year, but keep in mind that your car will typically spend at least 4-6 weeks in transit from Germany depending on where you live). |

(august / september 2016 had the best combination of money factor, incentives etc). I think october was also better than what december turned out to be, if I am remembering correctly. |

Thank you guys for the replies. A bit disappointed, i have been after the F80 since they released it. I went with a CPO F10 535 since M3 leases were crazy at that time and I needed a sedan (2 car seats and a booster at that time) and needed something big. Now I only have one car seat, one booster and my oldest kid does not need anything.

So yes, Nov/Dec are the best months for getting the deal on that year's MY cars. For previous MY cars, it's any time after the new model year arrives in the dealer showrooms (Aug+) and BMW FS starts subsidizing residuals and MF on previous MY inventory. Quote:
Don't forget UDE ($1K) and/or something else floating out there. Then add $1.5K fleet/USA swimming discount. Then subtract ~7% (do the exact math, I am simplifying), or ~$5K. If this was December, there would be another $1-2K in "holiday credit" from BMW NA to subtract from the sales price. Quote:
MSDs? Never put anything down on the lease (for numerous reasons)! a

Even with the holiday credit, people who did lease deals in august / september were able to get better overall deals (lower payments). For a purchase, I think december was better, I think. I Usually tend to think of leasing, since I am always helping people with lease numbers but the credits made december better for purchasing (again I am going off memory here). |

Unfortunately in the last several months BMW has really stopped following many their past protocols concerning pricing/special programs. I ordered my car in July, locked in then and picked up my car in Sept 16 with a new lock done at the beginning of that month and got option credit, 0.9 financing, and a corporate credit.
Typically in November, December the programs get better but in 2016 the 0.9 financing went away and went to 2.9, there were no loyalty programs, or option credits. They did give the holiday credit partially thru the month but August/Sept was much more aggressive overall for buy and lease. The morale of the story is BMW has become much more unpredictable with their programs so be careful about trying to hold out because of programs offered the year and many years before. |
