Competition/Extreme/Ultra High Performance Tires for 666M

Been looking around and not finding a lot of options. I'm going to be pushing 6-700whp and want to keep the stock 666M wheels. Based on my supercharged E92 M3, PS4S aren't going to cut it, even with 295 rears.

What are the options out there in stock 265/285 or 275/295 setups? All I'm finding are Cups or Cup connects, others that only have rear sizes, etc.

R888R from Toyo are noisy, but it'll stick. That's what I used on my 710 whp Cobra. Did well.

No 265/30/20 or 275/30/20 for fronts available as far as I can tell. Plus I'm in Seattle and those are less the ideal (or even safe) for a high hp rwd if I get caught in the rain.

Been using Cup 2 connects for the past 2 months and love em. They arent noisy and give lots of grip.

what size you running, stock? how much power you making?

i can't find them in 275/295 anywhere. seems like like the Cup 2 Connects are the only option out there in 265/285 or 275/295.

Apologies, should’ve mentioned im just on regular power of a stock competition package M3. They have good grip at those power levels. And theyve been fairly decent in the rain as well.

265/285 are the sizes.

If you want to keep the look of the oem 666m wheels, you can try Richland Forged wheels in this style and theyre wider as well too. Youd be able to run wider tires. Even 19’s. You could sell your oem setup to fund that. Just an idea.

Yeah I'm all about OEM+, so Richland definitely an option at some point if the Connects don't help. Hoping the Connects at least have a noticeable amount more grip than the PS4S.

Problem seems to be finding fronts, not the rears. So moving to a 285/305 with Richlands could work. I'm dreading the tramlining though with that wide of fronts and our terrible, deeply grooved freeways.

I have no personal experience with these, but have you researched the Nankang NS-2R?

https://philstireservice.com/shop/nankang-ns-2r/

And the fact that Phil sells it very likely indicates it's NOT a sh*t tire

Nothing in the right sizes.

Seems that every extreme summer tire out there is not offered in a 275/30/20. So it's either OEM 265/285 or 265/295 (Cup Connects). I suppose I could go the 265/295 route.

What are your thoughts on these compared to the OE PSS*?

Amazing is what I can say and a huge upgrade. Transformed the feeling of the car to me and made it more manageable. I couldnt floor it with the PSS because of wheel spin but I have tons more traction with the Cup 2’s. Car feels literally glued to the floor. Only downside is they do pick up a lot more rocks.

Thanks! How do they compare in terms of sidewall stiffness and steering response?

Seems like the 295/30/20 Cup Connects have been discontinued. No one has them. Might try some 285/30/20 Cup Connects on just the rear to see if they help at all. If so, I'll pick up the fronts. If not, then may have to switch to 763M as there are more sticky tire options in 19/20 combo.

If you’re looking for a cheap alternative, I love the Firestone Indy Hawks. Ran them on my 600whp coyote mustang and I was really impressed. Great tire for the price.

No 666m sizing either.

For those power levels, I'd recommend the NT555RII's in the rear paired with NT555G2's in the front.

For the sake of comparison, I daily my F82 with 700+whp and have been running NT555RII's in 305/35r19's on Richland Forged 19x11 et+38 in the rear, and NT555G2's in 275/35r19's on Richland Forged 19x9.5 et+22 in the fronts. They grip much better that PS4S's, don't yell at you on the highway, and are perfectly drivable in the rain if you're not out hooning.

They also come in stock 666m sizes: 285/30r20m, 295/35r20.

Heard back from Michelin and 295/30/20 Cup Connects will be available in August. I'll probably have new wheels with 305s by then. 😆
